Jo Ann Gee Obituary


Jo Ann Gee, 80, of Stanford died at her home on Saturday, June 14, 2014.

Jo Ann was born March 23, 1934 in Big Timber to Cornelius "Corny" And Kathryn Brody Cremer, the seventh of eight children.

She attended Pine Hills Country School, east of Melville until eighth grade and then attended Billings Central. She received her medical technology degree and worked in the hospital and animal health setting, including two years at the Montana State Veterinary Lab in Bozeman.

She married John W. Gee, D.V.M., May 14, 1964 in Coeur d'Alene, ID. They partnered in business, family and recreation in Stanford, MT their entire married life. Jo Ann remained involved in church and community activities. She served 12 years on the Stanford School Board. She was a director for the Montana State High School Rodeo Association for 8 years. She was active in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, from teaching Sunday school to lay ministry. Her faith and prayers served her and her family well through trials and blessings.

Jo Ann was a great supporter of youth, sponsoring the All-Around saddle at District 3 High School Rodeo (in memory of their son Leo) for 20 years.

Jo Ann was proud of her horse and rodeo heritage and continued riding and coaching horsemanship until the day she died. She was the receptionist/bookkeeper for 50 years for the veterinary & feedlot business as well as keeping the competition schedules for her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, John W. Gee and son John (Lisa); daughters, Maria (Randy) Taylor and Theresa (Mike) O'Neill. Her grandchildren gave her great joy, Caleb, Meghan and Luke Gee; Kelli, Reid, Grant and Grace O'Neill and Ivan Taylor. She is survived by her sister, Jane Leptich, Seattle, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Leo; her parents; brothers, John, Bill, Spud, Buzz and Bubby Cremer; and sister, Mary Bowling.

Vigil Service will be Monday, June 23rd at 7:00 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Stanford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima on Tuesday, June 24th at 11:00 a.m. with Rite of Committal to follow at Stanford Cemetery.
