Dillon Hahnkamp had one heck of a regular season. The young
cowboy from Melrose won three rodeos, Ennis, Three Forks and Eureka. This shot
him straight to the top the leader board. Coming into the 2016 NRA Finals
Hahnkamp had just over a $700 lead on Helena cowboy Jade Gardner. Jade had some
tuff luck in the first round and allowed Hahnkamp to extend his lead just a
little more. Jade then answered back in the 2nd round with an 8.6
second run, splitting the round with Kevin Peterson, 2014 Men’s All-Around
Champion. It all came down to what would happen in the last and final round.
Dillon made sure that these veterans knew this young cowboy meant business. He
won the final round with a 10.3 and placed 3rd in the average, making
him your 2016 NRA Tie Down Roping Champion. Congratulations Dillon this is the
first of many!
