When you hear Bessette in Montana do you think of team roping? Well you should, because Shawn & Shane have won quite a bit in the Big Sky state. Shawn being a past champion in the Junior’s as well as the 2011 Team Roping Champion with his dad Shane who was also a 2009 Team Roping Champion. Whether it’s a NRA rodeo or Pro Rodeo when you hear Shawn and Shane Bessette there is a good chance the leader board will change. In 2014 the father and son duo had over a $2,000 lead coming into the finals over Augusta cowboy, Clay Robertson, and Livingston cowboy, Zachary Schweigert. Shane roped a leg in the first round to place 2nd however they still came out with a 4th place check. It was all down hill from there. Not stopping the clock in the next two rounds opened the door for Robertson and Schweigert, making the year-end come down to the last and final steer. Clay and Zachary did not post a time in the 3rd round making them 2nd in the average and their total winnings for the finals just over $2,000 although it wasn’t quite enough to get the title away from Shawn and Shane.
