Meet Your 2014 NRA Team Roping Champions

When you hear Bessette in Montana do you think of team roping?  Well you should, because Shawn & Shane have won quite a bit in the Big Sky state.  Shawn being a past champion in the Junior’s as well as the 2011 Team Roping Champion with his dad Shane who was also a 2009 Team Roping Champion.  Whether it’s a NRA rodeo or Pro Rodeo when you hear Shawn and Shane Bessette there is a good chance the leader board will change.  In 2014 the father and son duo had over a $2,000 lead coming into the finals over Augusta cowboy, Clay Robertson, and Livingston cowboy, Zachary Schweigert.   Shane roped a leg in the first round to place 2nd however they still came out with a 4th place check.  It was all down hill from there.  Not stopping the clock in the next two rounds opened the door for Robertson and Schweigert, making the year-end come down to the last and final steer.  Clay and Zachary did not post a time in the 3rd round making them 2nd in the average and their total winnings for the finals just over $2,000 although it wasn’t quite enough to get the title away from Shawn and Shane.  Congratulations Shawn and Shane Bessette on your 2014 Team Roping Championship.  

Meet Your 2014 NRA Bareback Riding Champion

J2 Bridges had a fantastic 2014 season to say the least.  Bridges pulled a check at 66% of the rodeos through out the year.  Those are some impressive statistics!  He had over a $3,000 lead on Bareback Riding Director Cavan Wrzesinski.  Already having the 2014 Bareback Riding Championship won the Melrose cowboy wanted to add to the impressive statistics he already had.  J2 placed in all three go rounds and the average making his total won at the finals over $2000 and his year end total over $10,000.  Congratulations J2 on an outstanding year.  We look forward to seeing you defend your title in 2015.

Meet Your 2014 NRA Tie Down Roping Champion

Ben Ayre had a chance at a Triple Crown in 2014.  Things did not however go as planned.  Ben qualified to the finals in the tie down roping and the steer wrestling and was leading the all around coming in.  Ayre did however have a little over $700 lead over Orry Fruit in the tie down roping.  Fruit closed that gap by placing 3rd in the 1st round.  The Glendive cowboy answered back in the 2nd round placing 4th and won the last round clinching the 2014 Tie Down Roping title.  Congratulations Ben we will be watching for you in 2015 to defend your title and go for another Triple Crown!
