Tammy Jo Carpenter did not think her year would go the way it did in the Breakaway Roping. After selling her good breakaway horse in the spring she was scrambling to try to find something to breakaway off of by her first rodeo. Well I think she found a good one. A week before Polson she pulled out her husband Rich Carpenter’s backup heel horse ran him through a barrier and headed down the road. Splitting 2nd and 3rd in Polson really set her year up. The Billings, MT native who now calls Kalispell home went on to place in the Breakaway Roping seven more times throughout the year.
Carpenter also had a great year in Ladies Barrel Racing. Having not only one but two horses that were placing all throughout the year. Coming into the finals Carpenter had a good seat to claim a NWRA Barrel Racing title as well. Placing 2nd in the first round she was well on her way to tighten the gap between, Conrad cowgirl, Taylor Russell. Tammy Jo did not have the second round she wanted with just placing out of the money. She came back with a vengeance in the 3rd round though by placing 2nd. She was 2nd in the average and 2nd in the year-end as well.
With Tammy Jo Carpenter doing so well in these two events she is your 2014 NWRA All Around Champion. Congratulation Tammy we will be watching for you next year to defend your title.
